Age Of Empires 2: AGE OF KINGS

Age of Empires II – Age of Kings (Microsoft) is a game of combat and empire-building that spans the time from the fall of Rome through the Middle Ages. You control one of 13 civilizations, which you build into a powerful empire that strives to dominate other civilizations before they conquer you.

You must decide whether to conquer the world through military might, rule through commerce and diplomacy, or seize power by means of intrigue and assassination. There are many paths to power, but only one civilization will reign supreme.

MY OPINION

Age of Kings is one of the most absorbing, exciting games I have ever played. I found it very easy to get into, and once I started playing, it became so addictive that I didn’t want to stop playing to write this review. Age of Kings has a very good tutorial campaign to help you get started. The graphics are very intricate and detailed, and the game comprises good historical background material. The medieval sound track helps to enhance the feel of the game, as do the sound effects. Your soldiers acknowledge your orders in a different language, depending on which civilization you choose.

The manual is very helpful. It gives statistics for all of the units and technologies in the game, and even has a technology tree for each civilization. There is also a separate fold-out chart which gives lots of other essential information at a glance. By logging onto The Microsoft Gaming Zone, I have been able to join and host multiplayer games. Playing against other people who have varying skill levels greatly enhances the excitement and enjoyment of this game. To sum up, Age of Kings is an absolute winner, and well worth buying!
